If you are a part-time student, your studies will last a maximum of five years (from acceptance to the programme until the submission of your thesis).

- METHODOLOGY:
The doctoral programme is essentially a research period, during which your primary task is the preparation of your PhD thesis. To support you with this endeavour, a specific study plan is established for this period, which includes tutorials, seminars, courses, training activities and short stays at other universities, both in Spain and abroad. All of this is carried out under the guidance, direction and criteria of your Tutor or Thesis Supervisor.Each of the three research areas (History, Philosophy, Aesthetics) will have its own course on research methodology, notwithstanding that the programme management may also offer some courses shared by the three areas. You will be assigned to courses according to the research that you intend to conduct, and the courses will be taken in the first academic year of registration in the PhD.The specific content of these courses on methodology will be defined in detail each academic year, based not only on the three research areas of the PhD, but also on the specific ongoing projects, research and needs of your thesis.
Overall, the structure of these courses will take into account the following elements:
- General introduction to the programme. Research techniques in Humanities: theory and practice.
- Applications of new technologies to research in Humanities: theory and practice.
- Scientific writing in the Humanities: theory and practice.
- Visits to archives, libraries, workshops and research centres.
- Exercises.
